What are some things I MUST see/do while in Costa Rica?
April 14th, 2010
So Im going to Costa Rica in December. I plan on flying into San Jose, driving to Arenal for about 2 nights (do some activies around the volcano) . Then driving to Tamarindo for a night or 2 (maybe some surf lessons and snorkeling). Then to Nosara (for the longest canopy ride in the world.. atleast thats what some site told me.. still doing research though), then Malpais (several waterfalls there), then Jaco (beach/party it up before going home), then back to San Jose and home I go.
So any reccomendations in ANY of those areas would be GReATLY appreciated.

IT sounds like you already got a good plan. While in Arenal you have to check out the hot water springs at Tabacon as well as the Sky Trek zip line tour. It is one of the highest zip lines in the Country.
While in Tamarindo you must do the surf lessons and check out the nearby Monkey park. You should also check out Playa Conchal which is about 30 minutes north of Tamarindo. It is a beach made completely of sea shells rather than sand. Tamarindo has a good night life, so that will be one thing you have to check out. The Night life and Surfing is good in Jaco too.
That will give you a good start.
We send many students to learn Spanish in Costa Rica at: http://www.spanishabroad.com/studyabroad.htm and these are some of the things I tell them to do.

go to the waterfall in Sarapiqui. its about a mile down of walkind but TOTALLY worth it. also make sure to go zip lining there too. the zip lining is amazing here. also in arenal is the hot tubs powered by the heat of the volcano. when you go down to the ocean go snorkeling and eat cerveche, ITS AMAZINGLY GOOD!!!

Wow! Sounds like you are packing a lot into your vacation! I have traveled to Costa Rica a couple of times and I have a couple of things that I think are must do things while you are there- one is canyoning, which is rappelling down waterfalls- totally awesome! This lady at MyCostaRicaLink.com turned me on to it awhile ago and I am so into it now. Another must-do is the Volcano Hike/Baldi Springs tour http://www.mycostaricalink.com/tours/arenal/volcano-hike-hot-springs.html. Totally awesome! This twilight hike up to see the lava flow down the mountain followed by an incredible buffet and hours in natural hot springs- cant be beat! Anyway- give the folks at mycostaricalink a call at 1 866 498 0824- they really know their stuff and will turn you on to all sorts of stuff to do while you are there-
