I would like to go to costa rica in April and since the US is keen on that countrty and some say it is the 51st state of the us I was wondering if i might have troubles getting into costa rica…..
How influenced is COsta Rica by the US?

You should not have any problems on an Austrian passport if:
• the passport is valid for at least 30 days after you enter the country
• you stay for less than 90 days
• you can provide sufficient funds for the travel
• you have a return ticket to Austria or an onward ticket
• you have the documents required for the next destination if it should not be Austria
You really should not be worried about your US issue but if you want to check for sure contact the Costa Rica Embassy in Wien or the Consulate at Salzburg.
Gute Reise!
