Best hotel to stay in Tamarindo, Costa Rica?
Anyone know how to get from SJO airport to Tamarindo, Costa rica?
I am leaving in February to stay at the Barcelo Langosta Beach hotel in Tamarindo, which I hear is 5 to 6 hours driving time from the San Jose airport. Does anyone know the best way to get from the airport to the hotel without taking another plane? I hear there are buses but how much do they cost? and how easy is it to catch one? Im so excited to visit costa rica!!
Barcelo Langosta Beach hotel is in Playa Langosta which is very close to Tamarindo.
The directions are when exiting the airport you must get on the highway and go towards Puntarenas which is heading north, drive for about 2 hours and you will pass the entrances to Alajuela, Grecia, Palmares, San Ramon and the Puntarenas entrance, continue until you find a giant gas station on the left hand side and a sign that says Puente de la Amistad and/or Puente de la Paz, turn left and cross the bridge then drive about the same distance that it took you to get to the bridge from the highway, when you get to a T turn right and follow the sign that says Nicoya entrance, right after you pass Santa Cruz entrance there is a bridge, turn left and follow the road towards a small town called 27th of April, continue the road towards Tamarindo, Flamingo, Conchal, Brasilito beaches, you will see a large bar that looks like an old straw hut called ¨La media vuelta¨ continue on the right side of the road and about ten minutes more you will arrive to the Tamarindo entrance, turn left for about 3 miles and about the next to the last entrance you turn left, there will be a sign that says Playa Langosta and Barceló Hotel, go up the hill and you´ll find it about a mile up.
It takes about 4 hours to Santa Cruz and another hour to Langosta or Tamarindo.

it is an AMAZING hotel. Big and FUN. great restaurants and pools. right next to the beach so you get a nice view and great service!

Playa Tamarindo is beautiful you are going to love it. You say you are on a budget so you need hotels between $30 to $50 a night. Tamarindo beach has from ugly cheap hostels for $10 a night to really fancy and really expensive $200 a night places but im guessing you are looking for something in the middle like $30 to $50 a night and those are very pretty and nice hotels so here is a link with a list of 13 hotels in Tamarindo.
